LOST HELIX CHARACTER:

Derik "DJ" Fletcher Jr.

DJ dreams of writing music but he can't make a living on it, not in the Stone River Asteroid Belt. Thanks to company's never-ending contracts and impossible to afford transit, leaving isn't an option. DJ expects to end up working for Black Mountain, just like his dad and everyone else. DJ learned wizard-like hacking skills from his dad, a useful skill in a world of space stations. But DJ needs his friend, Paul, to teach him world-hacking skills as they escape from Black Mountain Mining.

LOST HELIX CHARACTER:

Little Katie

Katie is a little girl with a small part, but she makes it big. Shy at first, she grows into a delightful character with some wonderful lines. Characters sometimes surprise the people who are writing them, doing things in the moment that hadn't been planned. In LOST HELIX, Katie surprised me a couple of times. I think she will surprise you as well.

LOST HELIX CHARACTER:

Agent Hochstein

There from the beginning, Agent Hochstein witnesses the true fate of Norma, DJ's mom. For sixteen years, he worked with Derik, DJ's dad. He became a family friend but never disclosed the secret. Now with Derik missing and Hochstein assigned to hunt down DJ, what will Hochstein do if he finds him?

LOST HELIX CHARACTER:

Paul

Paul, the sidekick and best friend of DJ, is a streetwise sports hero with an optimistic charm. Paul has dedicated his life escaping Black Mountain's Unclaimed Youths Ward and traveling as a stowaway to join a land rush on a newly terraformed world. Basically, he's taught himself Ninja skills so he can become a farmer. But he never expected to be outrunning corporate agents with DJ along the way.

LOST HELIX CHARACTER:

Maya

Fellow-stowaway, Maya, is a feisty and talented young woman who appears and disappears like a wraith. She uses her skills to help DJ and Paul when she can. But Maya must look out for herself too because someone back in Stone River is counting on her escape. Upstaged by her skills, Paul becomes enamored by her. But will Paul ever get that first kiss? Maya will let him know.

LOST HELIX CHARACTER:

Black Mountain Mining

In LOST HELIX, the villain behind the villains is Black Mountain Mining. A faceless entity, imaginary but powerful—it is no one and everyone. Thanks to company's never-ending contracts and unaffordable transit, leaving isn't an option. Once rescue units, saving miners in trouble, the company's Black Mountaineers teams serve as law enforcement for this de facto government.

LOST HELIX CHARACTER:

Agent Coreman

Coreman sees no higher calling than to preserve the status quo. Stone River produces the raw materials used to build humanity's future, and it is Coreman's job to keep it working. When Black Mountain calls on him to hunt down DJ, someone he watched grow up, Coreman's only problem is that the company keeping him from moving forward with proper efficiency.
